Major technical changes

The following major technical changes have been made to this edition of the Standards:

  • Chapter 2.1 “The standards and technical requirements” R3 Materials requirement a) Materials and products used for critical functions iv) acceptance in writing from NHBC Accepts.

Minor technical changes

  • Chapter 3.3.2 – additional guidance on durability.
  • Chapter 4.1.1 – table 1 now includes saline
  • Chapter 4.4.6 – additional guidance for raft and semi raft foundation design
  • Chapter 5.1.21 – reference to potential cold bridging at door openings
  • Chapter 6.1.17 – cavity trays now include reference to manufacturers recommendations
  • Chapter 6.1.18 – renamed sub heading to Wall ties and bed joint reinforcement and note added regarding vertical spacing of wall ties
  • Chapter 6.1.20 – correction for cold weather working
  • Chapter 6.3.7 – reference made to Robust Details
  • Chapter 6.7 – renumbered and re-ordered the layout for clarity
  • Chapter 7.1 - renumbered clauses
  • Chapter 7.2.13 – includes proprietary dormer within requirements and guidance
  • Chapter 7.2.24 – subtitle renamed Spandrel panels in cold roofs
  • Chapter 8.1.3 – Tables 1 and 2 updated
  • Chapter 9.1.14 – Additional guidance on drying shrinkage of concrete floors in garages
  • Chapter 9.2.3 – additional guidance for preparation to plastering
  • Chapter 9.3.5 – additional guidance on anhydrite screeds
  • Chapter 9.5.3 – protection from weather rather than just cold
  • Chapter 10.2.5 – additional guidance on guarding.

We have taken the opportunity to make a number of editorial changes throughout the document. This includes updating references to British Standards
